Megamass sanoi:Udo Beyer on muuten ottanut 300kg takaa työnnöstä push jerk(behind the head)
Niinhän se Louie Simmons artikkelissaan kirjoittaa, niskantakaatyönnössä kymmenen ykköstä 300 kilolla yhdessä treenissä; "
Udo Beyer of the DDR was, to say the least, ungodly strong. At 352, his squat was 992 without equipment, he did a 672 pause bench 418. But possibly his greatest lift was a push-jerk form behind the head: 660 for 10 singles in one workout."

"Q
Jeff do you know the powerlifter/coach Louie Simmons? I am a former shot putter and Olympic lifter and I competed with York 25 years ago. At any rate, I think in a past PL USA, Simmons wrote some incredible claims for a well known shot putter of about 30 years ago from East Germany, Udo Beyer. As I recall he actually said Udo could do full rep squats in the mid-900's and push-press over 600 lbs. Now in a most recent PL USA, Simmons stated that the Russian Super-heavyweight Vasili Alexeyev would do non-stop power-cleans for 3 minutes and would warm up by throwing a 220-lb. barbell over his head backwards 100 times. He would practice the snatch for 2 hours, go to the pool for an hour and do hundreds of leg lifts, all followed by leaping in place 1000 times. Is Simmons on some kind of drug?
A
We are all on some kind of drugging, me probably a lot more than Louie. For the record, I know of Louie Simmons. He is extremely knowledgeable and is always experimenting. He has an immensely successful reputation and record of coaching others as well as producing unheard of lifts for a man of his age (or any age) so we are going after him to write for us.
Louie squats a ton, invented his very popular reverse hyper machine, and has a hell of a good mustache. I did not read Louie's comments on the shot putter Beyer, who was a phenomenal throwing champion. But -- as a matter of fact, I gave a steroid lecture once, that Udo attended (as did discus ace John Powell, Brian Oldfield and several other top track weight men). I also got a chance to watch all of them throw and train. So I can add my 2 cents. My opinion is that there is no accurate record (or for that matter, any record) of Udo lifting anywhere near the kind of weights that Louie claimed for him or, as I suspect, some numbskull told Louie that Udo might have done. I didn't see any lifts of any merit at all really that day, and in fact, shot putters that tall, (Udo was at least 6'5"), certainly are not built for big lifts bio-mechanically. Maybe it happened later, if he went on all those fake East German super secret miracle pro-hormones, (the ones that proved such a farce).
As for Alexeyev, I called Bill Starr and according to Starr, who has watched Vasili train on some 12 occasions, he doubted Vasili practiced the snatch a sum total of two hours in his entire life. He did not like the snatch and it showed (407 lbs. - 413 lbs.) versus 560 lbs. in the clean and jerk. As for leaping 1000 times in one session, Kobe Bryant couldn't do it, and why would anyone want to? But if Vasili (a great athlete) did go Kangaroo on too much Vodka, maybe that's why Vasili had his massive heart attack almost as soon as he stopped competing.
And all you real strong guys reading this, just try to toss a 220-lb. barbell over your head backwards repetitively 100 times in a row to see what kind of warm up that is! Let me tell you something, this would be more than enough warm-up for an entire lifetime of Olympic lifting. In fact, I'd like to see someone actually do it 100 times without stopping. You know, I bet if I measured Louie's legs, they are a lot longer than he thinks, because in my opinion, someone has definitely been pulling them lately."
