* Romanian deadlift Stand with your feet about hip-width to shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent. Hold a barbell at your thighs with an overhand, shoulder-width grip. Lean forward from your hips, pushing your hips back and maintaining the arch in your lower back as you guide the bar down against your legs until it's at midshin level or lower. Stand, extending at the hips to raise the bar back to the start.
* Stiff-leg deadlift Stand with a hip-width to shoulder-width stance and a slight bend in your knees. Hold a barbell in front of your thighs with an overhand, shoulder-width grip. Bend over at the waist as you lower the bar down in front of your legs toward your ankles. Pause briefly before raising your torso back up to a standing position.
