2:04 PM: Jon Jones refused to fight Chael Sonnen. Saturday, September 22nd, Jon Jones will fight Lyoto Machida.

2:06 PM: Dana White says that Greg Jackson suggested that Jon Jones not take the fight and it would be the biggest mistake of his career.

2:08 PM: Dan Henderson has a torn MCL and he is not sure when he'll be able to return.

2:10 PM: Future events will be renamed accordingly, so UFC 151 will be the September 22nd event and so on.

2:12 PM: With only eight days notice, this was the only decision available with Jones unwilling to fight Chael Sonnen.

2:14 PM: Dana White is unsure how the undercard will fall out. He is not sure if the bouts will just be moved or changed, etc.

2:14 PM: Henderson started trying to get in touch with Dana White Sunday, but was trying to tough it out. The UFC flew Henderson to Las Vegas to see a physician. He had limited lateral movement, and fighting through it was not an option.

2:20 PM: We still have big things going on. Jones vs. Machida will be the main event over the intended billing of a bantamweight title fight. It's always the way the UFC does business, the heavier the fighters, the higher billing.

2:21 PM: Me and Lorenzo are f---in disgusted.

2:22 PM: The Chael Sonnen fight didn't make sense as far as a title fight, but I knew people would be interested. Dana White: Tell Jon Jones there won't be any spinning back fists in this fight, Chael Sonnen only falls down once. I don't why a guy who's a world champion and considered one of the pound for pound bests would fight.

2:24 PM: All the marketing has been spent. The prelims were on FX. We have billboards in Times Square. This is a massive, massive financial hit.

2:26 PM: Being a fight promoter, you can't make someone fight. I can't absoluetly tell someone they are fighting. Your either a fighter or not.

2:28 PM: If Jon Jones doesn't fight Machida, we'll have another media call today, and it won't be good. Jon Jones is expected to return the bout agreement for Machida fight today.

Ihme säätöä. Erityisesti tuo Greg Jackson "biggest mistake of his career" kommentti pisti silmään. Chael Sonnen, joka tulee 185-paunaisista hävittyään Silvalle selvästi ja omaa kehnon pystyn. Jones pelkää alasvientejä vai mitä? Muutenkin treenannut matsiin kunnolla siinä missä Sonnen matsaisi kahdeksan päivän varoitusajalla.
 
Kyllä kai tuo Jones vs Sonnen olisi myynyt enemmän varmasti kuin Jones vs Hendo. Jones vasta sanoi vielä että ottelee vain isoista rahoista. En ymmärrä en.
 
Ymmärrän kyllä koko eventin perumisen. Eipä siellä ole käytännössä yhtäkään nimimiestä Main Eventin ulkopuolella. Tosifanit voivat jauhaa, että olisi ollut hyviä matseja, mutta ei nuo matsit olisi ppv-ostoja kyllä tuoneet.

Jon Jones saa tästä kyllä ihan älyttömästi lokaa niskaan. En edes ymmärrä, miksei hän voinut ottaa Sonnenia. Jones on treenannut koko ajan, Sonnen otteli juuri vuoden suurimman matsin ja tuskin on kamalasti leirittänyt tässä välissä. Sonnen olisi varmasti normaalia huonommassa kunnossa, sillä varsinaista treenausaikaa jäisi vain pari hassua päivää.

Eikä tätä selitetä sillä, kun Jones hetki sitten sanoi, ettei anna Sonnenin puhua itseään mestaruusmatsiin. Tässä puhutaan isommista kuvioista, kuin Jonesin egosta. Fanit ovat maksaneet jo lippunsa, ja vaikka saavatkin rahansa takaisin, ei se korvaa lähimainkaan menetystä. Varsinkaan, jos joku toisella puolella maailmaa asuva sattuisi olemaan jo vaikka matkalla jenkkeihin, joka on aina mahdollista.

Entäs muut ottelijat kortilla? Ei heitä voida tunkea vain UFC 152:een, sillä se on jo täynnä. Näitä kavereita koetetaan ripotella sinne tänne, mutta varmaankin moni ottelija jää nyt yhtä palkkapussia vaille. Ja kun miettii miten persaukisia nuo televisioimattomien matsien soturit ovat...

Kyllä tämä on Jonesilta todella paskamainen veto sekä faneja, että UFC:tä kohtaan. Kuinkahan monta miljoonaa dollaria siinä lensi tuuleen UFC:lta? Voin sanoa, että aika monta.
 
Odotan mielelläni mitä Setä-Chaelilla on tästä sanottavana.

Mutta kun mies juuri pari päivää sitten kertoi, että ottelee mielellään kunhan saa vaan ison tilipussin, niin tässä olisi kyllä ollut varmaan rahaa tarjolla. Olisi ollut mielenkiintoinen faneille ja varmaan UFC:kin olis tullut vähän finanssiasioissa vastaan. Jones olis ollut suursuosikki ja saanut hakata Sonnenia. Ainakin haastatteluissa kertoi tekevänsä sen enemmän kuin mielellään.

Jones kieltäytyy matseista ja Silva lomailee halutessaan ensi vuoteen asti. Mestareilla alkaa olla nykyisillä palkoilla jo varaa tehdä ihan mitä huvittaa.

Silti Chael 8 päivää matsiin, 185 paunainen, ei kovaa tyrmäysvoimaa, ei kovaa BJJ osaamista. Jon Jones täysi treenikämppi takana, 205 sarjan pisin reach, vahva paini ja voittanut kaikki edelliset mestaruusmatsit helpon näköisesti.

A Message from Dan Henderson

Sadly and unfortunately, I partially tore a ligament in my knee in training. As a result I’ve had to make one of the toughest decisions that I have ever had to make…for the first time in my career I am forced to pull out of a fight, my fight with Jon Jones at UFC 151. Luckily, surgery is not needed at this time and I will be completely devoted to rehabbing my knee as quickly as possible. I feel that I owe it to my fans and all the people supporting me to fight at my full potential in order to give myself a chance to win the UFC title. I appreciate the loyal support that I have felt from my fans. I want to thank all of my coaches and team of guys for the great support with my training camp. Most importantly, I appreciate their honesty when I needed them the most to make this very difficult decision. I also want to thank Dana and Lorenzo for being so understanding and supportive. I will continue to pursue the UFC belt with all of my heart!
