Tarina olkapäästäni:
In January 2012, a day after a normal hypertrophic training session my AC joint went very sore. In training session I did bench press and dips. I couldn't even raise my arm without excruciating pain.
Months went by and the AC-joint healed slowly. Then the healing stopped as I didn't give it enough rest (I study physical education and I had to use my arm a lot in my studies). I wasn't able to do regular push-ups and I believed that I would never be able to do bench press or dips again.
In May 2012 I went to doctor and MRI was taken of the shoulder. It was shown in the MRI that there was arthritis in the AC joint and it would probably need a surgery. I wasn't keen on going to a surgery as it would take very long to recover from it and the shoulder wouldn't probably be the same after it.
So I started to search the web to find alternative ways to heal my AC joint. I ordered many kinds of supplements (MSM, glucosamine, hyaluronic acid, cissus, serrapeptase) and started to eat them daily. I also did shoulder exercises with rubber band (exercises that didn't cause pain).
Slowly the shoulder started to heal and in November 2012 I was able to do bench press first time after the AC joint injury!
My 1 repetition maximum in bench press was 115 kg before the injury.
In January 2013 I actually made a new record after just 2 months of bench press training after the injury - 122,5 kg
In 20th of March 2013 I made a new record again - 127,5 kg
Two days ago, 20th of April 2013, I made a new record after just 3 weeks of the previous record - 135 kg!
I'm a chin up -athlete and an acrobat, so bench press is just an assistance exercise in my training program.
Now I'll put bench pressing on a break for a few months and focus on acrobatics!
NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!
