Mooner,
There is no real big mistery about his Hendo Training camp. The thing is that 8 weeks prior to the fight he got injured (Right shoulder), we decided to not have surgery and still fight and had to do a special training program to work around the injury. He wasn't able to punch with the right arm for most of training camp and could only grapple around 3 weeks before the fight. To make things worst he injured both shins around two weeks before the fight in one of his only sparring sessions, so couldn't kick until we were in the locker room before the fight warming up.
Due to our decision, which I stand by, to keep the fight and give it a try, we couldnt allow information about training to be disclosed, much less people filming or seeing it, as information about his injury would come out. Training was done here in Sao Paulo with mostly members of the UFC 97 training crew.
That was the real reason behind the mistery. I take responsibility to have given it a try. It was Mauricio's wish and our decision, and I think under circumstances trainers did a great job, for a guy that could barely train any fighting until it was too close, to last 5 rounds with one of the greatest of all time in a war.
It takes nothing away from Hendo btw, guy is a beast to perform at this level at his age. I'm a fan.
For Vera I don't know much about his training, or what happened good and bad during camp as we weren't working together anymore.
All the best,
Eduardo Alonso.
