OPETHILLA NIMMARISESSIO MANNERHEIMINTIEN FRS:SSä HELSINGISSä
Helsingissä tällä viikolla kolmesti loppuunmyydylle yleisölle esiintyvä ruotsalainen OPETH jakaa nimmareita Helsingissä Manskun Free Record Shopissa (Mannerheimintie 4) lauantaina 24.9. klo 16. Opethin Roadrunner Recordsin julkaisema albumi "Ghost Reveries" julkaistiin muutama viikko sitten, ja se on pysynyt Suomen virallisen albumilistan kärkikymmenikön tuntumassa siitä asti. Yhtye esiintyy Tavastialla perjantaina ja lauantaina, sunnuntaina yhtye taas valloittaa Nosturin.

Ei vittu pakko nostaa vanha tredi ylös.

En ollut koskaan kuullut Opethia, mutta nyt hakin uuden levyn. Täytyy sanoa, että en ole kuullut moneen vuoteen yhtä hyvää levyä. Hankin myös Damnation -levyn, mikä on myös loistava. Uskomatonta miten sama bändi voi soittaa niin monipuolista musiikkia, noi kaverit on aivan vitun kovia muusikoita, ei voi muuta sanoa. En tiedä mihin lokeroon toi kategorisoidaan, mutta tuli mieleen että toi on mielenkiintoinen sekoitus 70-luvun progehenkeä ja uudempaa metallia.

Hauska huomata että kaiken nykyisen ylikaupallisen paskan keskeltä löytyy vielä bändejä joilla itse musiikki ratkaisee kaiken, mutta jotka silti menestyvät.
 
A shorter edit version of "The grand conjuration" will see a single release in the near future. Included on the disc is the edit version as well as the full 10 minute + version and another edit of the "Ghost of perdition" track. A video for "The grand conjuration - edit" was also shot in Los Angeles/USA with director Bill Yukich.
 
Opeth vieraili legendaarisella BBC:n studioilla Lontoossa ja äänitti pari biisiä, jotka on tarkoitus julkaista Ghost Reveries albumin erikoisversiolla. Opeth äänitti seuraavat biisit: The Grand Conjuration, When ja Soldier Of Fortune (Deep Purple cover).
 
Ruotsalainen Close–Up lehti valitsi Ghost Reveries albumin vuoden toiseksi parhaaksi albumiksi.
 
Kanadalainen metallilehti nimeltään Unrestrained! valitsi Opethin Ghost Reveries albumin vuoden 2005 albumiksi.
 
Opethin Ghost Reveries on ehdolla Ruotsin Grammylle.

Mikael Åkerfeldt stated about the current status of the band's drummer Martin Lopez, "Lopez is not on this tour, he's back home and he's not been playing with us. He's been sick for quite some time. He's had some panic attacks which have been plaguing us for a couple of tours and we've had to cancel them. I don't really know what it is. We get all these kind of things — they're saying it's a blood disorder on one hand and he's had some pains in his back and depression. It got to a point where he couldn't play anymore. He got so skinny and he couldn't play. Basically we just agreed that it wasn't working out. He had to get home and get well you know? And he's been away ever since, almost nine months."
 
Rumpali Martin Lopez on päättänyt lähteä Opethista. Hänet korvaa Martin "Axe" Axenrot.

Mikael Åkerfeldt: "However sad I and the rest of the band feel in light of Lopez's departure, I want to thank him for his incredible work with OPETH and immense dedication to the band. We recorded some classic stuff together and he obviously had an enormous impact on our sound. I now feel very excited to hear the material of his own band. In the meantime, OPETH fans can rest assured that we'll continue jamming it out with Axe and we all have high expectations about our coming musical ventures."
 
Ghost Reveries albumista ilmestyy special-edition deluxe versio 25.7. Bonuksina 40 minuuttinen dokumentti albumin teosta, josta löytyy myös bändin omaa materiaalia keikoilta, Soldier Of Fortune (Deep Purple) coveri, The Grand Conjuration video, valokuvia, 24-sivuinen booklet, 5.1. soundit yms.
 
"Soldier of fortune", the Deep Purple cover recorded at the BBC and set up as a bonus track for the upcoming special edition of "Ghost reveries" will be re-recorded at the famed Atlantis studios in Stockholm. This is due to unforseen legal problems with the BBC in the UK. Therefore the BBC recording won't be available other than through downloads.

Kommentoinpa tänne sen verran, että alan ymmärtää, miksi Blackwater Parkia pidetään niin mahtavana levynä. Nyt olen kuunnellut muutaman kerran levyn läpi ja tuntuis kohta menevän Deliverancen ja My Arms, Your Hearsen ohi mun makuun parhaaksi Opeth levyksi, on maar sen verran laatumusiikkia. :thumbs: ja Mike Åkerfeldtille :worship: Äijä on varmasti raskaamman musiikin saralla sieltä lahjakkaimmasta päästä kokonaisuutena, mutta erityisesti säveltäjänä.

Erinomaisia levyjä Opethilta on tullut muitakin, uusin Ghost Reveries ja vaikkapa Still Life ainakin tulee heti mieleen. Bändin tuotannossa on rutosti laatua, määrästäkään silti tinkimättä.

Millainen on muuten Opethin rumpalitilanne? Eikös pitkäaikaisella vakirumpalillaan Martin Lopezilla ollut pahoja terveysongelmia, joiden takia mm. Gene Hoglan paikkasi rumpupallilla kiertueella? Jahas, virallisen nettisaitin mukaan näkyisi rumpalina olevan nykyään Martin Axenrot niminen heppu.

Noniin! Opethissa näkyy olevan sekä The Man Mike Åkerfeldt, että kitaristi Peter Lindgren kissaimmeisiä! Eli ovat muutenkin fiksuja miehiä, eivät pelkästään luovia ja taitavia muusikoita. ;)
