Toiset tykkää äideistä, toiset tyttäristä. Muistaakseni stop-fight-stop-fight- ilmiö ei tapahtunut kuin kerran fight festivalilla, jolloin matsissa isompi kaveri sitoi jatkuvasti eikä näin jättänyt tuomarille kauheesti muita mahdollisuuksia. Tosin sitäkin herkkua (tuomarointia) jokainen voi varmaan ite yrittää mennä koittamaan kuinka helppoa on niin ettei kukaan valittaisi.

It takes two to tango.

Eli 3x5 min vaparimatsi jaksaa kattoa vaikka matsi olisi melkein kokonaan matossa lahnana makaamista, mutta pystyottelu on paska jossei pääty ennen aikojaan?

No enhän mä sitä sanonut.

Onko A, B ja C jo liian kaukana?

10 March Tussles Worth Watching

8. Victor Valimaki vs. Jordan Radev
Fight Festival 25, March 14 -- Helsinki, Finland

Two UFC veterans will lock horns in Finland’s capital city. Since being released by Zuffa, Valimaki (13-5) has won four straight. The Edmonton, Alberta, native holds some big wins over Jason Day, Vernon White and Rodney Glunder. Radev (17-3), a stocky Bulgarian wrestler, will try to decode the “Matrix” with excellent top control and a dangerous submission game.

Hi Bobby,

I'll throw few:

-From whom did Victor inherit that very Finnish lastname? :)
-What does Victor think about the matchup against Jordan Radev and what is going to be his gameplan?
-What has been his toughest fight today?
-Has the popularity of MMA grown in Canada after GSP became one of the superstars of the sport?
-What are Victor's future plans in MMA? Get another impressive victory to his record over Radev and a contract with some of the top organizations?

How does it feel to fight in 84 weightclass? Last time in Helsinki M1 Victor fought under 93 and looked very strong to light heavyweight. In wich weightclass he has taken his fights and what is going to be preferred weightclass in the future? Great to see Victor in Helsinki again!

Very nice!

Who are Victor's training partners?
How does an average week of training look when getting prepared for a fight?
What kind of injuries has Victor had during his career?

Hi Bobby!

Very nice to hear!

I'm just curious to know, as Victor is fighting in 185lbs now, what does he weigh before he starts cutting? Like someone already stated above, he looked huge in 205 already...

Maybe he should give me some tips on cutting weight ;)

From whom did Victor inherit that very Finnish last name? The Valimaki name comes from his father's side of the family. Both Victor's grand mother and grand father were from Finland.

What does Victor think about the matchup against Jordan Radev and what is going to be his gameplan? Jordan is a very tough and accomplished fighter, one of Europe's best. We expect this to be a great fight. Game plan we can't say :) , you'll just have to come out to Fight Festival and cheer on Victor and see it for yourselves.

What has been his toughest fight today?
Toughest fight to date was the fight with Vernon "Tiger" White. Vernon was very tough and kept on coming. Victor had to suck it up and dig deep to pull off that win.
Has the popularity of MMA grown in Canada after GSP became one of the superstars of the sport?
Yes, GSP is getting alot of main stream attention. MMA is growing alot and very popular in Canada, especially in our hometown of Edmonton. We have at least 5 promotions based out of Edmonton.

What are Victor's future plans in MMA? Get another impressive victory to his record over Radev and a contract with some of the top organizations? Victor would like to continue his win streak and continue defeating high level opponents. Has ambitions to fight internationally and get back to the UFC.

How does it feel to fight in 84 weightclass? This will be Victor's debut at 84kg (MW) weight category. We'll see how it feels, lol :), Victor is leaning out and slimming down, even healthier than before diet.

Victor has been a light heavyweight (93kg) through out his career. FF25 will mark his debut at 84kg. Going forward we will be fighting at 84kg if all goes well. But will most definitely take fights at 93kg if they are of great value. Great to be back in Helsinki, had a fantastic experience last time!

Very nice!

Who are Victor's training partners?

What kind of injuries has Victor had during his career?

Who are Victor's training partners?
Victor trains with a very strong team.

and when time allows Jason MacDonald (UFC star), Jason Day (UFC star). + many other great local fighters.

How does an average week of training look when getting prepared for a fight? Trains 2-3 times a day. Morning works on cardio and/or strength training. Late morning/early afternoon trains mma (grappling/striking) with partners. Afternoon/Evening trains boxing and teaches mma class.

Many :), Broken arm, broken ribs, broken hand, injured elbow, torn knee, torn abs. Pretty healthy at the moment :)
