Helevetti noi mottikuvat on tylyjä. siellä on tullu veli venäläisellä äitiä ikävä. ja käsittääkseni noissa moteissa ei kauhean paljoa vankeja otettu niinkuin kuvakin näyttää.
Jossain oli muuten juttua suomen sotilaiden sotarikoksista sodan aikaan. Antaa hyvin perspektiiviä siihen, että sota on mitä on, sodassa hämärtyy kaikki nämä moraalin jne rajat. yhtälailla suomalaiset tappoivat venäläisiä sotavankeja joko huvikseen tai koska ei ollut aikaa / resursseja hoitaa vankeja vankilaan kuin irakissa jenkit tappavat paikallisia sotilaita. Kun taistelut kirkonkylästä pohjoiseen olivat kääntyneet suomalaisten eduksi,
Siilasvuo keskitti kaikki irti saatavat voimansa Raatteen tielle, joka oli neuvostoliittolaisten
hallussa Kuomajoelta Likoharjulle. Pääosa neuvostojoukoista oli Haukilan maastossa.
Siilasvuon suunnitelma oli jälleen yksinkertainen ja selväpiirteinen:
neuvostojoukkojen yhteydet rajan taakse oli katkaistava, joukot oli paloiteltava osiin ja
syntyneet motit tuhottava. Suunnitelman toteuttamiseksi avattiin Alanteenjärven -
Vuokkijärven jäälle autotie, jota käytettiin joukkojen keskittämisessä ja niiden
huoltamisessa.
Siilasvuon joukkojen hyökkäys alkoi vuoden 1940 alussa. Hyökkäyksen painopiste
suunnattiin Haukilaan, mihin hyökättiin sekä etelästä että pohjoisesta. Raatteen tie
saatiinkin katkaistua Haukilan itäpuolella. Samaan aikaan tuhottiin Haukilan
kaakkoispuolella Sanginlammilla ja Eskolassa Kuhmon tien suunnassa olleet
neuvostojoukot. Passiivisina asemissaan pysyneet neuvostojoukot olivat joutumassa
saarroksiin Haukilan, Karilan, Tyynelän ja Mattilan alueilla.
Raatteen ratkaisutaistelut alkoivat 5.1.1940. Rajan tuntumassa suomalaiset
hyökkäsivät tielle Raatteen vartion maastossa noin komppanian voimin ja sen länsipuolella
noin pataljoonan voimin Likoharjuun, joka saatiin vallatuksi useiden yritysten jälkeen.
Purasjoen silta tuhottiin seuraavana päivänä. Samaan aikaan Siilasvuon soturit
hyökkäsivät myös Kokkojärven ja Teerisen kannakselle. Kaikki nämä taistelut nopeuttivat
ratkaisua, joka tapahtui Haukilassa neuvostojoukkojen tuhoutuessa suomalaisten
hyökätessä.
44. Divisioonan kolme rykmenttiä olivat sulloutuneena hyvin suppealle alalle. Kun tie
idempänä oli katkaistu, olivat neuvostoliittolaiset käytännöllisesti katsoen motissa. Ainoa
heikompi suunta oli Puraksen suunta, mutta sekin saatiin tukittua. Haukilan motin, samoin
koko Raatteen suunnan mottien, ankarat tuhoamistaistelut käytiin 5. - 7.1.1940.
Jäljellä oli enää alueen puhdistus, ja 10.1.1940 iltaan mennessä taistelut
Suomussalmella olivat päättyneet. Neuvostojoukkojen läpimurto länteen oli epäonnistunut.
Raatteen tien taistelut päättyivät 7.1.1940 kuluessa.
44. divisioona, jonka kärki oli saapunut 14.12.1939 kuluessa Kuomasjoella puolustautuneiden
suomalaisten asemien eteen, oli tehokkaalla sissitoiminnalla 14.-31.12.
välisenä aikana pakotettu Raatteen tien varteen puolustukseen.
Ankarien luonnonolojen vallitessa tämä määrävahvuinen ja tulivoimainen
ukrainalainen osittain moottoroitu yhtymä joutui sitomaan joukkonsa
tiestön tuntumaan. Samanaikaisesti sen huolto muodostui kestämättömäksi.
Suomalaisten yleishyökkäys ajoittui 1.-7.1.1940 väliseksi ajaksi.
Taisteluissa 44. divisioona tuhoutui lähes täydellisesti, sillä se menetti lähes 70 % miesvahvuudetaan.
Tämän jälkeen Suomussalmella oli ainoastaan partiointia ja kahakoita, joista suurin
oli neuvostojoukkojen kolmella pataljoonalla suorittama hyökkäys puna-armeijan
vuosipäivän johdosta siirrettiin Kuhmon rintamalle ja Laatokan Karjalaan, missä ne
joutuivat erittäin ankariin taisteluihin.
Rauha astui voimaan 13.3.1940 klo 11.00. Rajan kulku Suomussalmella säilyi
ennallaan. Tappiot olivat molemmin puolin huomattavat: neuvostodivisioonat menettivät
kaatuneita noin 23.000 miestä, ja suomalaiset noin 800 miestä.

There was no prison exchange and the Confederacy couldn't even feed there own.
Remaining in operation until the end of the war, Andersonville held more captured Union soldiers than any other Confederate camp, a total of more than 45,000, nearly 30 percent of whom died in captivity.
During the summer months, more than 100 prisoners died every day.

this photo was taken in april/may 1943 in the ghetto of warsaw during the abolition of the jewish uprising. the commanding officer on german side is the 3rd soldier from the left: brigadeführer jürgen stroop. he confirmed the death of 37359 jews until the end of april. because of his crimes against humanity he was executed in warsaw (mokotow-prison) in 1952.

Itekään nimee muista, mutta se oli kyllä karua, esimies kävi tuomassa lisää panoslaatikoita, ja katsoi kun ensimmäiset maihinnousualukset rantautuivat suoraan konekiväärin tulilinjalle.
Esimieskin oli säälinyt aidosti vihollista, tiesi ettei niillä ensimmäisillä miehillä ole mitään saumaa jäädä eloon.

"I told David how I had dreams about two men that day-the first American I
killed and Lieutenant Ferking," he said. "The memories make me cry."
