Ever wondered how Judas Priest’s Richie Faulkner plays the iconic opening riff to “Electric Eye” as written by K.K. Downing? In this episode of Riff Lords, Richie takes you deep into the world of Judas Priest’s iconic guitar riffs, demonstrating the correct way to play the opening riff and the exact techniques behind one of heavy metal’s most electrifying tracks.

▶ Taken from the full episode of Riff Lords with Richie Faulkner here: • Riff Lords: Richie Faulkner of Judas Priest

Released on the Screaming for Vengeance album in 1982, “Electric Eye” opens with a thunderous riff that defined a generation of British heavy metal—as soon as you hear it, it’s instantly recognizable. Richie breaks the riff down note by note, starting with the fast-paced main riff, then slowing it down to explain its E standard tuning, root note shifts, palm muting, and how subtle changes add weight and aggression to the rhythm.

From power chords with dissonant open strings to that signature pre-verse crunch, Richie shows you every detail of this riff so you can play it yourself.

Whether you’re a new Judas Priest fan or an old-school fan who wants to learn how to play “Electric Eye” the correct way, this is your chance to learn it directly from the guitarist who gets to play all the riffs by K.K. Downing.

Got my Skyline FINALLY operational. It's been a dang ROLLERCOASTER of emotions getting this thing on the road but she's finally good to go. Import was a nightmare- learn from my mistakes pls lol. A lotttt of work was needed when it landed in the states to make it functional but I couldn't be happier.

I had a lot of body work done too by the Panas boys in NJ. There will be another video coming soon on socials about all the stuff they did so keep your eyes peeled. That being said, enjoy me talkin' your ears off about my new treat and enjoy your day!

On tour, Poppy finds calm in the small things: a tea shop in a new city, a stop at a stationery store, a few quiet minutes spent scrapbooking before soundcheck. Anything to keep her grounded while the world keeps moving.

In this episode of Day In The Life, she opens up about her new album ‘Empty Hands,’ leaning into what she loved performing live and learning to accept the ride instead of fighting it. And when the noise settles, she checks in with her best friend, Pi, who, for the record, is human. Watch Day In The Life with Poppy and stream ‘Empty Hands’ now on Spotify.
