Tällä kurssilla tutustaan perinpohjaisesti yhteen kaikkien aikojen metallikitaristeista. Alexi Laihon (1979-2020) kaoottinen matka kitaramaailman ikoniksi ja äärimetallin suvereeniksi soihdunkantajaksi kesti lähes 30 vuotta. Sinä aikana hänen klassista musiikkia, thrashia, black metalia ja punkkia yhdistelevä vimmattu kitarointinsa ja sävellystyönsä ehti inspiroimaan miljoonia kitaristeja ja musiikkifaneja ympäri maailman.

Kurssilla käydään läpi Laihon käyttämää laitteistoa, soittotekniikoita, soundeja ja vaikutteita. Esimerkkikappaleina toimivat Children of Bodom -yhtyeen viiden ensimmäisen levyn klassikkokappaleet "Lake Bodom", "Silent Night, Bodom Night", "Hate me!", "Angels Don't Kill", "Needled 24/7" ja "Are You Dead Yet?", joista saat käyttöösi myös laadukkaat taustanauhat. Kurssilla käytetään autenttisia Laiholle kuuluneita kitaraa ja vahvistimia.

Kurssin opettajana toimii Lost Society -yhtyeen nuori supertähti, kitaristi-laulaja Samy Elbanna. Jyväskylästä isoille lavoille ponnistanut Elbanna tarttui kitaraan ensimmäisen kerran 11-vuotiaana juuri Alexi Laihon inspiroimana. Myöhemmin hän tutustui Laihoon myös henkilökohtaisesti ja vuosina 2018-2020 he soittivat yhdessä The Local Band -yhtyeessä.
