The curtain rises on an epic battle royale between brave warriors who lived through an uncertain era.In the late 19th century during the Meiji period, 292 warriors, including Shujiro Saga (Junichi Okada), gather at Tenryuji Temple in Kyoto at nightfall, lured by the promise of a huge cash prize. Each given a wooden tag, they join a vicious game in which they must steal the tags of their fellow participants and reach Tokyo to win the prize money. Under the veil of night, the temple grounds are filled with unease and the presence of bloodthirsty warriors. When the signal is given to begin the game, the combatants launch into their relentless battle for survival.

Lord Doyle (Colin Farrell) is laying low in Macau – spending his days and nights on the casino floors, drinking heavily and gambling what little money he has left. However, in hot pursuit is Cynthia Blithe (Tilda Swinton) – a private investigator ready to confront Doyle with what he is running from. As Doyle tries to climb to salvation, the confines of reality start to close in.

BALLAD OF A SMALL PLAYER is directed by Edward Berger (All Quiet On The Western Front, Conclave) and stars Colin Farrell, Fala Chen, Deanie Ip, Alex Jennings and Tilda Swinton.
 
Itse petyin tuohon Ed Geinin "tarinaan" todella paljon. Hyvien avausjaksojen jälkeen sarjan historiallinen, ei pelkästään epätarkkuus, vaan ihan hatusta heitetyt jutut alkoivat kasaantua, kunnes viimeisissä parissa jaksossa mentiin jo aivan älyttömyyden puolelle.
En tietenkään odota mitään dokumenttia tällaiselta, ja annan mielelläni tekijöille paljonkin taiteellisia vapauksia, mutta on kuitenkin aina omanlaisensa vastuu, jos fiktiivisen tarinan nimessä on oikean henkilön nimi. Tämänkin nimi kuitenkin oli 'The Eg Gein Story'. Ei silloin voi tositarinaa kuljettaa rinnakkain aivan itse keksityn kanssa tällä tavalla. Tässäkin oltiin kuitenkin niin tarkasti otettu mukaan Alfred Hitchcockit, Tobe Hooperit yms.

Väkivallan ja seksuaalisten perversioiden kuvaus alkoi myös tuntua itsetarkoituksellisuudessaan puuduttavalta, ja sen katsominen näin muuten kehnossa kokonaisuudessa tuntui turhauttavalta.

Loppupuolen sentimentaalisuus oli myös hämmentävää ja iljettävää. Oliko tarkoitus saada katsoja jotenkin herkistymään tämän ihmispaskan kohtalosta?

On outoa tietää, että tämä farssi on samoilta tekijöiltä, kuin aivan upea Dahmerista kertova ensimmäinen kausi. Myös Menendezien kausi oli ihan hyvä. Upeita näyttelijöitä ollut kaikissa, eikä tämä kyllä ollut poikkeus. Charlie Hunnam Ed Geininä oli kyllä puistattava ja erittäin loistokas suoritus häneltä. Hirveästi muuta hyvää tässä ei ollut. Tai no pidin myös siitä, miten Ed Geinin vaikutusta moderniin kauhuelokuvaan kuljetettiin sarjan mukana rinnakkaiskerronnalla, se oli kekseliästä ja mielenkiintoista.
 
Hunnami veti kyllä järjettömän roolisuorituksen, muuten sarja oli kyllä pettymys ja kelausnappia tuli painettua useammin. Viimeiset kaksi jaksoa täydensi farssia.

Netflixissä on muutama aivan huikea korealainen sarja. Suosittelen katsomaan.

Tämä käsittelee parisuhdeväkivaltaa ja vaikka juoni lähti vähän laukalle parissa kohtaa, niin tämä oli silti tosi hyvä.

The Gloryä olen tainnut hehkuttaa aikaisemminkin, mutta se on yksi kovimmista sarjoista ikinä.
