The final three designers are Elizabeth, Princess, and Chris Cortez. They are each give the design assignment to create their own window collections for Macy’s. They also each get to choose two of the previously eliminated designers to assist them. Naomi Campbell helps Tommy Hilfiger in evaluating the window designs.
Elizabeth says her vision is sophisticated comfort. Princess says her vision is urban sheik. Chris ways his vision is a lifestyle brand based around transportation, incorporating a mixture of street and classic. Tommy Hilfiger says Elizabeth has sophisticated, grown-up clothes, but they also are plain and lack innovation. Tommy Hilfiger says that Princess has innovation, but mass producing her clothes would be difficult and expensive. Tommy Hilfiger says Chris Cortez shows he is thinking ahead and about the future, but his use of cashmere could limit his audience.
Tommy tells Elizabeth that she is “out of style” because her designs are just too plain. Tommy asks the other designers for their opinions on Chris and Princess and gets conflicting recommendations. Tommy says he has to have a collection that has a connection to his brand, that takes the next step and is very versatile, and that the majority of the people would want to buy and wear. Tommy calls Chris up and congratulates him because he’s “in style.” Chris wins a $250,000 a year job with the Tommy Hilfiger corporation with the opportunity to design his own collection.
