Review: Jay Cutler's new"Undisputed" DVD
"Let me start by saying I own all of cutler's workout videos, even bought the fst7 vid to see him and heath working out in the off season so I was eager to get my hands on Cutzilla's new video so here it goes..
You get two discs. workout scenes are all black and white and extras are color.
Disc 1
Starts with a backdrop of Venice beach including some characters and the california lifestyle, then onto Jay(looking huge as always) at Gold's Venice talking about the location. The audio is horrible and unfortunately you will have a hard time trying to make out what Cutler is saying most of the time. He then goes onto the arm workout.
triceps: sticks to the same exercises seen in previous workout dvds, but includes d 70 degree angle lying tricep ez bar extension as seen in the fst7 vid
biceps: sticks to same exercises as seen on other cutler vids with d exception of the fst7 vid exercise facedown dumbbell incline curls.
Calves: same exercises as other vids.
Legs: same exercises as previous vids , really bad audio. I wish i could hear his real time pointers. His legs get swollen fast and they look like a microwave popcorn bag about to pop open. He does calves on this day as well.
Chest: same previous vid exercises with some hammer strength presses and a cybex looking machine fly.
Abs: standard exercises
talks about the blood volume training philosophy once more.
Disc 2
Shoulders: Back at Gold's Flamingo in Vegas, way better lighting for this workout session. You can see Jay's conditioning come through this part of the vid. Same previous vid exercises with d addition of the 45lbs plate laterals. The recap session has improved audio.
Back: Back at Gold's venice which comes with bad lighting and awful audio. See same exercises as previous vids and Jay adds some high pull Hammer Strength rows, undergrip a la Yates. Jay looks like a silverback from the "Gorillas in the mist" movie, huge and swollen. He does some modified one arm dumbbell rows(palms up) which I have never seen someone do before. There is a part where Jay is doing seated rows and I swear his back looks like a deployed airbag, cant really tell where his traps end and the rest of his back begins.
Recap audio is way better than before but still needs some work.
Extras:
* Jay's visit to the Ed Hardy HQ, interview with Christian Audigier plus a tour of the facility
* Jay's friends talk about Jay
* Jay talks about supps, his eye candy assistant is shown cooking his standard bland chicken meal. Its really hard to hear Jay as he talks so low or it may be the same camera used in the workouts.
* Jay doing cardio and stretching at home
* Jay playing with the dogs and doing housekeeping.
* Jay at the physical therapist getting some treatments including:massage, cupping and stretching. Its the first time I have seen Jay smile without effort and he even cracks a good joke, not that he's a bad guy but he is usually not an expressive fellow.
So,
Pros: Jay's sheer size will motivate any hardcore fan. After every workout, Jay does a recap of each exercise, what angles he uses, if its blood volume training or mass gaining, fst7 pointers and also based on his previous injuries he talks about what he has tweaked to stay injury free(pretty candid as to the injuries he has sustained in the past).Good to see Jay be so open to change when it comes to injury prevention /modalities of healing and to evolve in his career with new philosophies about training at this stage of the game.
Cons: Bad audio most of the time, hard to listen to the training tips
I was spoiled by the previous vids with the audio and lighting but as a hardcore fan of bodybuilding, this vid was a must.
Hope this helps"
