PT: Hello Lucio, how are you today?
LL: I am fine, thanks.
PT: Tell us a bit about yourself.
LL: I was born in a state called Minas Gerais in 1973, moved to Vitória when I was 6, always liked to fight, started with Kung fu in my teen ages and move to jiu jitsu at 20 years old.
PT: When did you move to Finland?
LL: My first seminar in Finland was in 2001.
PT: Do you have any family?
LL: I am not married and do not have kids.
PT: It was recently announced that you have a match in UFC Fight night 21 against Yushin Okami, how do you like this challenge, and what do you think you have to be prepared for?
LL: Well, I like the fact that it will be soon, I was afraid that would take long to fight again. I think Okami's style match very well with mine, I am pretty confident about this fight.
PT: Thats good to hear, im keeping my thumbs up
PT: Obviously you are both experienced fighters, are you going to adjust your training against him compared to your previous matches?
LL: I will keep doing what I have done so far, my last loss had nothing to do with the training, everything went very well, had lots of help from my friends in Kehähait, like Sune Wirta, Timo Suhonen, Toni Liljeroos, Petteri Maunu, among others. What will change now is location wise, I am now in Brazil so I started here which is great cause I have my conditioning coach Gustavo Carvalho, my boxing coach Robson Vidal and my bjj master Eduardo Jamelão.
PT: That really sounds good, are you gonna be there until the fight night?
LL: In the end of february I will travel back to Finland and will spend the remaining time(4,5 weeks) training with my MMA mestari Jarno Nurminen, last time I missed him and now he will prepare me mentally as well, Tampere is a great city filled with great fighters.
PT: You recently had your first fight in UFC, how was the atmosphere in the Octagon? Was it more pressuring than in a ring while you were still fighting in the M-1 challenge?
LL: The pressure didn't come from the fact that the fight is in an octagon, I have fought before in this kind of cage, many times, in the finn's "The Cage".
PT: Tell us a little about that night.
LL: When I started training bjj Royce Gracies was kicking ass there, I would never imagine that one day I would be there too, I guess that this was a factor in my mentally weaknesses in that fight.
PT: What do you consider being the highlight of your career at the moment, and the biggest win?
LL: Against Karl Amousu, it was very nice event, in Finland with all my friends watching. Plus the guy is a awesome fighter, big win.
PT: How you compare the Finnish MMA scene in a worldwide scale, is there any chance we see more people fighting under the Finnish flag in the big organizations?
LL: Definitely yes, Finland has lots of great fighters, I know cause I have trained with many. The events in Finland are growing a lot, for example in the
Fight Festival, they are matching up finnish fighter with many international stars and therefor putting the finnish talent out there, For instance my fight against Sean Salmon was fundamental for the UFC to notice me.
PT: Tell us about your day goes when you are preparing to fight?
LL: Monday, wednesday and friday I wake up around 8:30, have my breakfast then train Boxing and Jiu jitsu in the morning, afternoon I do conditioning training, tuesday and thursday in the morning I do jiu jitsu and Muay Thai and some times some Muay Thai techniques in the afternoon, and saturday some more Muay Thai sparring.
PT: Thanks for this opportunity to learn more about you, anything you want to say to your fans here at Pakkotoisto?
LL: Thank u Japi. I want to thanks my sponsors HIPKO(hipko.fi), Sauna Sessio(saunasessio.com) and Kimurawear(kimurawear.com). Soon Kimura wear will launch my signature T-shirts, I got a look at and it is looking awesome, Spartan style
PT: I wish you good luck in the future, and lets hope someday you will bring the belt to Finland.
LL: Thank u man, anything else just let me know.

PT: Kiitoksia Petteri
PM: Kiitti.
