DREAM 18: Special NYE 2012 – Mock Event Poster and recap
DREAM 18: Special NYE 2012, takes place December 31st, 2012 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama Japan. While details of the event are few at this point, fighters such as Satoru Kitaoka, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Hiroyuki Takaya, and other Japanese favorites are expected to take part in the event.
GLORY, owned by Glory Sports International (GSI) will be the company that makes this all possible. Behind the powerful GLORY brand, the promotion expects to put on this fight, and a total of five MMA fights in 2013 under the DREAM banner. The promotion will also hold 5 kickboxing events, to fill the void that K-1 left upon their demise.
DREAM is expected to go after many other fighters. Seeing that it is NEW OWNERSHIP, the chances are somewhat good that they w ill be able to lure in some respectable talent over the coming weeks.
Keiichi Sasahara, who spoke to media recently following the official press conference, stated many possibilities for the promotion. Satoshi Ishii, who it seems has been approached by DREAM, could very well make his return in just two months time. Furthermore, fighters such as Shinya Aoki and Bibiano Fernandes are also two names that DREAM would like to see return back to Japan for the show.
We expect more details to leak out over the coming weeks, including the size they plan to configure Saitama to, which would determine the number of spectators they anticipate in attendance.
No television deal has been announced, as of yet.
DREAM to hold 5 MMA shows 5 kickboxing in Japan, talk on Aoki and Bibiano, and MORE
In the press conference, which was held last week, Keiichi Sasahara hit on several topics, many of which we have already written about. Of those that were not written about:
DREAM is interested in possibly working out a deal with OneFC that would see Shinya Aoki and/or Bibiano Fernandes compete with DREAM
GLORY will look to hold 5 GLORY Kickboxing shows and 5 DREAM MMA shows in Japan in 2013
Tatsuya Kawajiri, Satoru Kitaoka, Hiroyuki Takaya, are all 100% on board for NYE 12
Sasahara stated that it is “possible” that Satoshi Ishii could compete when asked by a media member
As we learned last week, Pierre Andurand has taken the reins from the Real Entertainment folks and slapped the GLORY sticker on them. With the intense capital it takes to run a business such as DREAM, and in the part of the world it is run, it will take someone with that kind of capital to keep this gig alive.
More to come, soon!
Saadaan sittenkin perinteinen uuden vuoden show Japaniin ja tällä hetkellä näyttää muotoutuvan paras laatuaan moneen vuoteen. Molemmat kuvat ovat muuten ilmeisesti fanitekoisia.
