Ko. artikkelin voi lukea ilman rekisteröitymistäkin mutta tässä tämä:
"Just go the new Flex in the mail. The article "Gut Reaction" on the new distended gut and synthol mandate is unintentional comedy.
Ronnie Coleman: "I know it wasn't directed at me, but it's pretty bad for guys like Jay Cutler and Gunter Schlierkamp. The emphasis seems to be on aesthetics, but if that will be at the expense of mass and muscularity, they might as well change the sport around. Instead of calling it bodybuilding, they should call it 'aesthetics.' If they are talking synthol and bloated stomachs, that has nothing to do with me."
Damn. Where do I start? I'll start with what I give credit to Ronnie getting right. Synthol has nothing to do with him. Okay. Now for the rest of it. It's pretty bad for Jay and Gunter? Ronnie needs to look in the mirror. He has a far worse distended gut than either of those guys. I'd like to think that when this came out Ronnie crapped his pants. I don't think that happened though. Weider probably called him up and told him not to worry about it. He's still get his 8th Sandow.
Okay, here's another good one:
Gustavo Badell: "I don't know what Ronnie Coleman is going to do about it; he has the biggest stomach in the sport..."
I think Gustavo needs to worry about his own gut rather than worry about Ronnie's.
Let's go to Jay Cutler...
"...I want to see a big guy win, but I also want to see a big guy with aesthetics win, not those who have gutsand lumped up body parts. I've never been described as aesthetically pleasing, but that hasn['t hurt me over the years. Dexter Jackson competes as 215 pounds. I compete at 270 and Ronnie at 295, but Dester Jackson's not winning the Mr. Olympia, nor do I think he ever will."
I like and respect Jay Cutler but I do think Jay freaked when this came down. I don't think he's got the gut so much to worry about but the backlash against mass monsters. I think Jay feels VERY threatened by Dexter and that's why he's trying to talk himself into thinking Dexter will never win an Olympia.
Anyway... it's a good read. If you don't have a subscription, stop by the ol' Barnes and Noble and read it. Pg. 108.
It will be interesting to see what happens. If the IFBB is legit (which I don't think it is) then Ronnie Coleman will not win the Olympia unless he makes some changes. But does that mean Cutler wins it? His stomach is decent. Or do they go in a new direction and Dexter wins it and the Mass Monster era is over? Obviously it depends on how they all come in to the Olympia too.
One last thing. As you can imagine, Marcus Ruhl was none too happy. "If it's enforced, we will not only have a new Mr. Olympia this year, but bodybuilding will suffer."
I disagree. It will be be better. The great comment though is "if this enforced." It's sad that we all have to sit and wonder if the IFBB will enforce one of it's own mandates."
