- Cokerman attended the Manny Pacquiao press conference in NYC for the PacMan-Mosley fight earlier today. If Showtime chooses to promote Strikeforce during the PPV, it could benefit the promotion greatly.
- Overall, Coker feels the show on 2/12 was an absolute success. The brackets, again, were set-up for the big fights to be taken place ASAP. Alistair will "have his hands full".
- Feels Fedor did a great job. In his opinion, getting taken down in Round 2 was his biggest mistake and he scored it 10-9 for Silva.
- Says Fedor DID NOT quit the fight (as rumors state); it was a doctor stoppage. Fedor would have continued fighting.
- The fourth judge, SF Rules Director Cory Schafer, was in the building and scoring on a decimal system to give his decision had the fight gone to a draw after three rounds.
- Coker not surprised about Dana White's reaction on Twitter post-fight. Regardless, he feels it's great Dana watches Strikeforce.
- Coker didn't like Evgeni "calling out" Dana White on Twitter. Feels everyone on his team should act as professionals. Not a fan of bantering.
- Coker thinks Silva dominated Fedor more than anyone else has. Feels the "retirement" talk was emotionally-based, and has NO DOUBT that Fedor will be back.
- Coker feels safety-first is a good policy. Despite the non-broken orbtial bone, he is not going to second-guess the doctors. He does acknowledge Fedor was standing and ready to go before round 3, and Silva looked more tired than Fedor did following the round 2 bell.
- Whether or not Fedor has any "retirement clauses" in his contract is irrelevant. If Fedor wants to retire and doesn't want to fight, he's free to step away.
- Coker feels Fedor vs the loser of Overeem/Werdum makes the most sense right now.
- PPV is still on-track for this year, and Fedor, if he wants to fight, is still in the mix for the PPV card.
- People underestimated Bigfoot, who is very athletic and talented. He thinks how much Fedor missed Bigfoot in the stand-up surprised a lot of people. Bigfoot will continue to make waves as the tournament progresses.
- The big screen at the entrance will likely remain for all of the tournament fights. Coker is hoping to one day get to a level where the ambiance and spectacle of a true PRIDE style production is a reality. Keeping the big screen for all SF cards is something they can explore.
- Showing the country flags of the fighters was a big part of the production, as it shows that this is truly a "world tournament".
- Coker acknowledges MMA fans may not always like Gus Johnson, but feels his following is substantial enough outside of MMA to bring in some cross-over fans. Showtime-CBS handles production aspects like announcers.
- Gina and Scott were talking around a month prior to the announcement over the weekend. Her management told him Gina wanted to fight. A late June return is scheduled. Julia Budd, who beat her in kickboxing, is a possible opponent.
- Coker always knew it was "only a matter of time" until Carano came back, as born fighters get "the itch". Believes it will be the same case with Fedor once he heals up.
- Based on trending and traffic, the ratings for the WGP card, which will be released tomorrow, should be "sizable".
- Coker says it's tough to watch Andrei get hurt. Questions if it's worth risking Andrei's health to put him out there again. To his credit, Andrei went the distance with Bigfoot when Fedor did not.
- Andrei is still a huge star, and Scott will sit and talk to him. Something will be done regarding his future.
- April 9 is the date, but still nothing confirmed for Japan. Announcement coming at the end of this week or next week. For domestic venues, states Texas and Georgia are possibilities. Coker is talking to a "friendly promotor" in Montreal about a potential future date in Canada. Predicts SF will make their Canadian debut in 2011.
- After April 9, their next big show is set for June with Carano's return. SF will probably sit out for May due to Showtime's boxing schedule.
- Scott acknowledges criticisms about Fedor's training and thinks maybe there should be an evaluation of Fedor's training camp, but that is not his call and for Fedor and his trainers to decide.
- There have not been any talks with Fedor's camp about a move down to 205.
- Cung is in China filming a movie. His return to MMA is unknown.
- Melendez vs Kawajiri II is being set-up for April 9, regardless of where it happens.
- Josh Thomspon vs Aoki is possible, but not planned for April 9. If Japan does a lightweight tournament, it will go down there.
- This is the first time in K-1's history, to Scott's knowledge, that nothing is scheduled on the calendar. It's not a good sign for combat sports in Japan.
- Cris Cyborg may return before summer...but not on April 9.
- Despite Shane Del Rosario being the "first alternate", the tournament committee (Schafer, Mezger, etc) will ultimately decide who moves forward in the case of a main bracket fighter dropping out. Scott personally feels you can't "possibly deny" Fedor a chance back in the tournament given his legacy.
- Gegard-Kyle not confirmed; Kyle still injured.
- Mayhem will be back by summer. He was never confirmed for the March card. SF is talking to him about a few things (My guess: most likely re-upping his contract).
- King Mo will be ready to come back around June.
- Jerry Millen is on friendly terms with SF, but is not part of the promotion's future.
- Still believes Dave Bautsita will be fighting for SF by late summer. He is not signed at this time.
- Herschel has a lot of projects outside of MMA. Scott doesn't know when he'll return, as he puts everything aside to train for MMA. Herschel, if he wants to come back, is always welcome. Herschel will be back in AKA next week to train just so he stays in shape.
