I am speaking to those of you who are just blind followers of Fedor and beleive his managment can do no wrong. It seems like all of you want to blame Dana and the UFC for Fedor's failure to sign with the UFC. I have encountered many of you in these threads and constantly make the point that Fedor's management is equally to blame for this situation.
You constantly say that Dana is making all of his allegations up since there is no proof that Fink made such requests, yet there is. Before we get to this i would like to touch on a few other points.
1) "Pride had no issues with Fedor"
This is not true. Cro Cop left Pride because a title fight could not be arranged early in the year following his victories in the GP tournament. They could not arrange this fight because Fedor was scheduled to headline a Bodog card early in the year. Cro Cop said in SEVERAL interviews that he would remain in Pride if a fight could be arranged without him having to wait a full year for it. It could not be arranged because of fedor, and Pride expressed their displeasure.
2) "Affliction had no issues signing Fedor"
How many of you have actually watched an Affliction event with your eyes open? M-1 Global is plastered all over EVERYTHING. There was a huge billboard down here in the LA area for the Fedor vs Sylvia fight and M-1 Global was even plastered on that. Do you really think the UFC would even allow such a ridiculous stipulation for signing a fighter?
3) "Affliction doesn't have to have an event in Russia"
Yeah, because they can't. They are struggling to even reach three shows a year and there are rumors of bankruptcy approaching. Ofcourse they are not going to be asked to hold an event in russia when they are a new org and struggling to stay afloat.
The following quotes i'm going to post for you, are from a sherdog interview with Fedor's manager:
"That was the BodogFight event in St. Petersburg on April 14. I thought Bodog behaved very badly in regard to that event. They acted as though the whole organization of the event and everything surrounding it, the VIPs such as Jean Claude Van Damme and Vladimir Putin: was because of them. In reality I and my brother [Evgeny Finkelstein] organized 90% of it.
The logo for the event was also very unfortunate, Bodog Fight was very prominent and they almost hid a small M-1 logo in the corner in all marketing materials, so that it was almost impossible to see. So I am not particularly pleasantly disposed towards BodogFight at the moment."
"I think that first thing is that the UFC politics are that they probably want an American champion. I think it's safe to say that in America this is the case."
"For example, I suggested that they have a UFC event in Russia, which I would organize for them, including financial assistance. They said that didn't suit their current development plans"
"I requested the right to show UFC content during the television slot we have with the state broadcaster in Russia. They declined and said that they had their own people who would organize this here"
"Of course I prefer that they came to me for help in Russia, in organizing an event for them here in St. Petersburg, or in Moscow, no on else could do what I can. There is no one in Russia that can even get close to us with MMA promotion"
"The UFC is only interested in Fedor; they are not considering other Red Devil fighters. K-1 is prepared to take our boys and provide other assistance as well, in developing the team"
"I've tried to explain this to Dana White, I suggested working together as I believe there is a lot of potential in this part of the world for joint ventures to be hugely successful."
For those of you who have read what i have posted with your eyes open, it should be clear that when Fedor's manager comes to the negotiating table, he is not looking to be a manager but a co-promoter or a partner. The UFC does not need his help, and all he brings to the table is Fedor. Why the hell is he asking to get in on the marketing in Russia? Talk about piggy backing on your fighter.
Does anyone really expect the UFC to enter into some kind of business agreement with this guy, just so they could sign Fedor?
I agree that the contract offered to Fedor was ridiculous, but no more ridiculous than what Fink was requesting. Maybe the UFC contract was arranged that way because of all the requests this clown was making. We'll never know, but it should to be clear to anyone who isn't blatently biased, that both sides are equally to blame in this matter.
As long as Dana is the way he is, and as long as Fink conducts himself as a promoter instead of a manager, Fedor will never fight in the UFC.
Fedor fanatics, consider yourselves educated on this matter now.
