The Haunted menee studioon toukokuussa nauhoittamaan uusinta albumiaan.

Jonas Björler kommentoi:

"We have now been rehearsing and writing new material for about a month and everything is going really well. This week we made four new song ideas, and we now have a total of eight. Finally, we got ourselves a computer in the rehearsal room, and that makes the whole process so much easier. We can now easily mix, edit and move things around. It saves us a lot of time, and we can for once hear what we're doing.

"We are planning on entering Antfarm Studios in Aarhus, Denmark with producer Tue Madsen in May. Prior to this, Per [Möller Jensen] will record the drums in Puk Studios in Randers, Denmark, during the first week of May. The vocals will probably be recorded at Studio Fredman. The plan is to have everything mixed and mastered in June.

"We are looking at a possible late October 2006 release. More news to come soon..."

Commented THE HAUNTED frontman Peter Dolving: "We're going forward. This is exciting and scary. So far we got 12 songs that are evolving smoothly. So far I'd say the stuff is much heavier than previous records, I get a feeling like [AT THE GATES] meets KING CRIMSON.

"Oh, I don't know — it's hard to describe but personally I think we're coming up some heavy shit. Sometimes I feel like 'WHOA! This is turning into a PINK FLOYD record for the dysfunctional.'

"It's nice for a change to have a good rehearsal space in Gothenburg this time and the possibility to communicate with our computers instead of having to play stuff over the phone at two in the morning, especially now since we've moved out all across Sweden. Well, I have a really good feeling and I'm really looking forward to recording this monster..."

Anders Björler: "We are currently re-recording all the songs to find the right individual tempos and to make a final pre-production that hopefully sounds closer to the finished product. Although we have very limited recording capabilities in our rehearsal room, we have managed to get a decent sound. It proved to be a crucial step to bring a computer this time around. It has helped us alot to focus on the arrangements and intricate details within the songs with a more relaxed approach. On previous pre-productions we have had to cope with horrible rehearsal rooms, and without any kind of recording possibilities (if you don't count grandma's old kitchen radio as a professional recording tool). So far I'm very pleased with what we have done musically. Very HAUNTED, of course, but a step further into a dark, twisted and horrific place."

Anders Björler: "After a week in Puk studio [in Randers, Denmark] it's nice to be back in civilization. We arrived at Tue Madsen's Antfarm studio [in Aarhus, Denmark] yesterday, and have basically just been catching up on some sleep 'til today. This morning we started going through different amplifiers, cabinets and guitars to find the right sound for this production. So far we have just tried a couple of basic set-ups that we normally use live and in the rehearsal environment to see how that would come across. We will probably take a couple of more days checking out different sounds, and hopefully start recording the guitars sometime soon. I have included a short video clip from Antfarm. You can find it here [Windows Media]."

"It's moving forward. We finished all the rhythm guitar tracks last Friday, and moved onto additional guitars and solos this past weekend. Jonas [Björler, bass] came down [to Antfarm studios in Aarhus, Denmark] Tuesday and recorded the bass tracks in four days or so. We have now moved onto doing some dubs and recording additional sounds on some songs."

"Peter [Dolving, vocals] is coming down this Sunday to scream his way through the songs. I'll keep you updated on more news the following week or so."

"We are currently doing the last two vocal tracks for the album. Everything so far has been going according to plan (or in fact ahead of schedule). We did the guitars (rhythm, clean and solos) in about seven days. Jonas [Björler, bass] finished his bass tracks on May 20th. Peter [Dolving, vocals] came down last Monday to do the vocal tracks."

"Anyway, it's turning out to be a really powerful and interesting album. It's got the trademark HAUNTED aggression of course. Some songs are the most heavy we've ever made, but it's hard for me to explain the sound and the songs in intricate detail without speculation and the whole rumour circus getting out of hand. I'd much rather let you wait and hear it for yourselves."

Madsen: "THE HAUNTED have just left the studio [Antfarm studios in Aarhus, Denmark]. We finished recording yesterday [Friday, June 2]. Now only mix and mastering remains. This is a killer album, I tell you. Killer classic songs, much more varied than you have heard them before. Think THE HAUNTED with inflluences from TROUBLE, 'Master Of Puppets' and KING CRIMSON, and you are only halfway there."

The Haunted on saanut uuden albuminsa valmiiksi.

Viimeisin video studiosta.

Peter Dolving checks in with the following post studio report: "Oh, the power of the Internet and wireless computers. I'm currently sitting on the john writing this report thinking about all you good folks out there, while my kids are watching cartoons in the living room. We just finished a new album and I gotta say, I'm proud as fuck. It's bigger, better, madder and thicker. Hell, that's the weird part with the album business — how the hell to describe what you've just done. Anyway, it rocks. Big-time. Really. Per (drums) told me at rehearsals a couple of days ago, 'If I died tomorrow I couldn't be more satisfied so if people don't like it, fuck them.' I couldn't agree more.

"We just completed the recording process and are now putting the artwork together with Manne Andreasson, a bearded wierdo and dear friend or ours.

"Working with Tue Madsen's been great. The dude is down-to-earth man, and working with someone who's got his shit together like that is a joy.

"Anders spent six weeks in Denmark getting guitars down while working with Per and Jonas and then helping me out while I was doing vocals. Before we started recording, he was telling us he didn't want to do ANY solos on this record, but in the end we got him to do four really cool pieces. I think we've managed to find an immense sound: the drums are clearer, heavier and less processed, and we've even got acoustic guitars, congas, strings and loads of weird noise manipulations going on.

"As far as the vocals go, I honestly didn't know I could even sing some of the stuff. I was nervous as fuck when I got down to Tue's studio, and felt like a complete rookie: 'Shit, how the hell am I going to live up to this.' Turns out all I had to do was keep running my miles and warm up like when we're on tour.

"You can look forward to an album we're proud as fuck of, and we're looking forward to seeing you all again as soon as we head out for tour. It'll be ugly as ever, I'm sure."

Albumi ilmestyy Pohjois-Amerikassa 31.10. ja päivää aikaisemmin kansainvälisesti.

The Dead Eye is said to be the band's "most accomplished work to date."

Anders Björler: "I just got the final master from Tue Madsen (our producer) with all the tracks in the final order, and it simply sounds killer. Completing 'The Dead Eye' basically took all spring, starting with some rehearsing and pre-production early January. We left the Antfarm studio in early June a bit perplexed but with a sense of having created something very strong and powerful. You always feel a bit weird after a recording session. It's hard to distance yourself from your work, but this time we all felt that we had accomplished something out of the ordinary. Working with Tue Madsen as engineer/producer has been great, and it surely reflects on the album. Tue has the same kind of musical background as all of us, so it was pretty easy to communicate ideas and to explain our vision."

Peter Dolving: "It was pretty easy. Very uninteresting. When it comes to those things, we are one of those bands who are uninteresting. Writing songs is the most difficult part of the process. We were lucky this time because we had lot more time to write. We started writing like more than a year ago while on tour. We started collecting riffs and stuff and we had like 500 different riffs. By the time we got into the studio we knew what are kind of result we wanted. Fair and square and done. We hate being in studio because we have to sit there and repeat what you do until you get it right. What's good on this album is that we have done things a bit differently. In the mixing process we had a lot of fun so I am really proud of it."

"I think we play better, I sing better, the songs are better. We like it more. End of story. If the whole world hates it, what can we do? We have written this album purely for our enjoyment."
