John Richmond was born in Manchester and moved to London, England, where he completed his studies at Kingston University in 1982, He straight away designed his own collection under his own name, while collaborate with such brands as Emporio Armani, Joseph Tricot and Fiorucci, In 1984 he formed the The Richmond-Cornejo label with Ravensbourne graduate Maria Cornejo, Since 1987, Richmond has worked under his own name producing three lines, the main line, "John Richmond", the pret a porter line "Richmond X", and the denim line ""Richmond Denim". In 2003 JR sunglasses first hit the market, and have grown stronger, design wise, with sophisticated and innovative models and more art work. Offering plastic and metal frames in pure colours, combined and overlaid in inspired patterns. The uncluttered but striking designs are often enhanced by details that evoke the brand?s more roguish and provocative side: metal logos on micro-pendants hanging off the temples, or the RICH logo applied with strass and coloured enamel. The perforated temples with the JR logo are coolly classic.
