In 2003, the situation was really messed up and the band To/Die/For was helplessly separating into two different camps. Motivation problems and a need to try something else in life other than playing also made Tonmi, Jope and Make reconsider the future. After a few months of laying low, pursuing other projects and trying to write some new songs, something happened. Since Tonmi and Jope were the main organizators behind Covernight (a local cover music event), there came an opportunity to play something we've always considered as the best metal in the world... SLAYER!!! So we formed a project called Dead/Skin/Mask and rehearsed eight classic Slayer tunes with Ilkka on vocals and Eza on guitar. The gig turned out to be the best kind of therapy for all of us wedged in that situation and we all found out how much we enjoyed playing fast and aggressive material. It was a natural progression to form a band with the same line-up and the same concept. That's when HateFrame was born.
